LASIK Alternatives in Northwest Ohio

LASIK Alternatives in Toledo, OHLASIK Alternatives in Toledo

LASIK is a popular procedure for correcting vision problems, such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. However, LASIK may not be suitable for everyone, and some people may prefer to consider alternatives.

There are several other options for vision correction. Each has its own unique benefits, and it is important to carefully consider all of them before making a decision. It’s always a good idea to consult with an eye care professional to determine the best option for your individual needs and circumstances.

If LASIK eye surgery is not an option for you, there are other options that may better suit your particular eye conditions and your lifestyle. We encourage you to read the information below and schedule a free consultation to discuss your vision correction options.

Alternatives to LASIK:

  • EVO ICL Surgery

The EVO ICL is a reflective implant that helps correct vision problems like myopia and astigmatism. The biocompatible Collamer material it is made of makes it soft and flexible—much like a contact lens.

The surgery to insert the EVO ICL lens is painless and does not remove any corneal tissue, unlike other corrective options. And although there is a lens in your eye, you will not be able to feel it.

  • Corneal Cross-Linking (CXL)

Corneal cross-linking is a technique that was first used in 1998 to treat patients with a disease called keratoconus. In keratoconus, the cornea (the front clear window of the eye) can become weak, thin, and irregularly shaped. Instead of keeping their normal round shape, corneas with keratoconus can bulge forward into the shape of a cone causing poor vision. The cross-linking procedure help strengthens the cornea which stops the thinning process and further loss of vision.
